How to Calculate Slope Percentage
Formulas for roads, ramps, civil engineering, and roofing:
STEP 01
Measure Rise
Determine vertical change in elevation (Rise = Δy).
STEP 02
Measure Run
Determine horizontal distance between start and end (Run = Δx).
STEP 03
Compute Percentage
Divide Rise by Run and multiply by 100% (Slope % = (Rise/Run) × 100).
STEP 04
Convert to Angle & Pitch
View incline angle in degrees θ = arctan(Rise/Run) and standard roof pitch (x:12).
