How to Find the Least Common Denominator (LCD)
Finding the smallest positive multiple shared by all denominators:
STEP 01
List Denominators
Extract the bottom numbers from all fractions in your problem.
STEP 02
Find LCM
Calculate the Least Common Multiple (LCM) of all denominators.
STEP 03
Scale Numerators
Multiply each numerator by (LCD ÷ original denominator).
STEP 04
Add or Subtract
Combine scaled numerators over common LCD base.
